Itinerary Notes
Please note that due to seasonal weather the itinerary on Day 10 in Doubtful Sound varies from winter to summer months. The winter itinerary runs for all departures between June 4 - September 20. The remaining departures will follow the summer itinerary.
Day 1 Auckland
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Raglan (1B,1L)
Take the scenic route to an artsy beach town known for great surf breaks and en route visit scenic Bridal Veil Falls for a walk. A local holiday home provides the ideal setting for the night and enjoy a lunch cruise on the harbour. Option to try bone carving with local Maori, surf lessons, stand-up paddle lessons, sea kayaking or simply exploring the village and its arts and crafts shops.
Day 3 Tongariro National Park (1B)
Journey to a working eco farm to learn about local conservation efforts. Continue on to Tongariro National Park and enjoy a hike with views of an active volcano and spectacular scenery.
Day 4 Rotorua (1B,1D)
Explore the Lake Taupo region. Learn about local myths, legends and traditional cuisine. Take a dip in the geothermal spa pools at your hotel.
Day 5 Christchurch (1B)
Visit an historic Maori Village with a local Maori who explains the geothermal aspects of the area. Fly to Christchurch where we enjoy an orientation walk.
Day 6-7 Franz Josef (2B,1D)
Enjoy the scenic TranzAlpine Train and continue down the west coast to the glacial area of Franz Josef. Opt for a helicopter hike on the glacier, a soak in the hot pools or a guided walk on your free day.
Day 8-9 Queenstown (2B,1L,1D)
Travel through the rugged rainforest scenery of the west coast. Take a gondola ride and enjoy dinner with your group at a skyline restaurant. Day 9 cruise across Lake Wakatipu and enjoy a barbeque lunch. In New Zealand's adventure capital, there are a number of adrenaline-filled options to choose from—opt to go jet boating, take a scenic flight or go skydiving.
Day 10 Doubtful Sound (1B,1D)
Embark on an amazing wilderness cruise through Doubtful Sound with the chance to see dolphins, fur seals, sea birds and penguins and option to kayak. After a day full of wildlife viewing, spend the night moored in a secluded bay (seasonal).
Day 11 Queenstown (1B)
Cruise back to port and tour ends in Queenstown at 1pm.
